Siouxsie and the Banshees The Seven Year Itch Live (Sanctuary) 4/5

For the non-initiate, the music of Siouxsie and the Banshees can seem impenetrable - a phantasmagoric blare of tortured-cat guitars and monolithic basslines vying with a voice straight out of a Gothic nightmare. This wide-screen, surround-sound film of one of the band's recent reunions proves that their ears are still attuned to a parallel universe of darkly twisted pop. Their own songs exude a baleful sensuality, while George Harrison's woozy Blue Jay Way is transformed into an apocalyptic howl. Resplendent in pinstripes and eyelash glitter, Siouxsie gives the baying crowd her all, ending the show half naked and crawling off the stage.
